THE Scottish Wholesale Association has embarked on the first phase of an ambitious project designed to help members and the wider wholesale sector become greener and more sustainable, and ultimately decarbonise the wholesale food supply chain and achieve net-zero emissions by 2045, if not before.

The Scottish Wholesale Association has bolstered its numbers after a lockdown recruitment drive that saw nearly 30 wholesalers join the trade group.

A NEW Scottish Wholesale Food and Drink Resilience Fund has been established by the Scottish Government to help qualifying wholesalers affected by coronavirus restrictions cover fixed costs for a six-month period from October 2020.

This follows months of ongoing discussions between SWA, its members and officials within the Scottish Government food and drink team.

Further to the Scottish Government's announcement on the launch of a £5m Scottish Wholesale Food & Drink Resilience Fund, SWA provides wholesalers with advice and help in the application process.
