CHILDREN'S charity Aberlour has received a cash boost after members, suppliers and guests at the Scottish Wholesale Association's annual conference this summer raised £4600. Aberlour ambassador Katherine Grainger CBE, Scotland's Olympic rower, was the motivational speaker at the high-profile event.

The largest, solely Scottish children's charity, Aberlour provides help to over 6000 of the country's most vulnerable children, young people and their families each year. Sarah Nicholson, senior fundraising executive, explained: "Giving children the best possible start in life is at the heart of everything we do and we are absolutely delighted that the SWA chose to support Aberlour at its conference this year, particularly when Katherine Grainger, one of our ambassadors, was speaking.

"We would like to thank the SWA members, suppliers and guests at the conference for their generosity and digging deep into their pockets."

SWA president Asim Sarwar, who presented a cheque to Sarah, commented: "We are particularly impressed with the work of Aberlour and its commitment to caring for Scotland's young people - we are delighted to make this presentation to such an important and long-established children's charity."
