The Scottish Wholesale Association (SWA) is working with the Scottish Agricultural Organisation Society (SAOS) and Scotland Food & Drink to deliver the next phase of our 'Delivering Growth through Wholesale' programme.

Designed to improve and encourage engagement between producers and wholesalers, the programme will continue in its' roll-out. Providing businesses with the tools and information to help them maximise opportunities within the wholesale industry and which is currently worth £1.7billion (GVA) to the Scottish economy.

Running in parallel to each other are the 'Wholesaler Workshops' and 'Producer Workshops', culminating in a 'Meet the Buyer' event on 9th March, with more details on this to be shared soon.

The wholesaler workshops will be split over two half days and will delve into the opportunity of why wholesalers should source locally, look deeper at overcoming the barriers of engagement between wholesalers and producers and finally, detail steps they can implement to take advantage of the Scottish sourcing opportunities.

While the producer workshops will introduce the wholesale industry, the size of the opportunity, how wholesale works and the benefits it can deliver for producers. It will help them understand what wholesalers are looking for and give insider tips on managing relationships and maximising sales once a listing is agreed.

Produces will also be given real-life examples of how wholesale has helped producers of various sizes grow their business and the benefits they have seen from working with the sector.

All delegates will receive a suite of tools and information to develop their wholesale and/or local sourcing strategic business plans and guidance on developing a framework for engagement. While one to one expert support, following the workshops, will be available to help both wholesalers and producers apply learnings.

These workshops are free and are open to all wholesalers and producers in Scotland. They will take place over Zoom and, attendees must be able to commit to both sessions. Those who attend the workshops will receive priority for the ‘Meet the Wholesaler’ event being held on March 9th.
