EV Fleet assessment findings, presented by SWA partner Neot Capital.
The road freight sector is evolving rapidly, and operators who prepare now stand to gain a real competitive advantage. Electric HGVs are already proving their value—offering lower running costs, thanks to electricity being 3–5 times cheaper than diesel, along with smoother and quieter driving experiences that support driver wellbeing. With the UK planning for all new heavy-duty trucks to be zero-emission by 2040, every fleet will soon need a clear transition strategy.
During the past six months, SWA has been working with partners to facilitate our members’ involvement in two zero-emission transport consortia, formed following funding from Transport Scotland. One such consortium lead partner is Neot Capital.
Over the past month, Neot and its consortium members have carried out detailed fleet assessments with Scottish operators, including wholesalers. These assessments are helping to identify where electrification is viable today, where operational changes will be needed, and how public support can best accelerate the transition to EV vehicles. Initial findings will be shared in a webinar on the 3rd March.
To ensure that these recommendations reflect the needs of the wider wholesale sector, we are inviting SWA members to complete a short survey and attend the webinar.
Your feedback will help validate findings and shape future guidance, tools, and potential subsidy schemes. It will also directly inform the final business case presented to Transport Scotland, including how any future support could be structured, ensuring that future policy and funding genuinely works for Scotland’s wholesale sector.
By taking part, you’ll stay informed of the outcomes and be well positioned to benefit from any future funding programmes.
We encourage all members to register for the webinar and complete the survey—your input truly matters.
