Ylva leads on SWA’s strategic initiatives to advance sustainability in Scottish wholesale, and amplify the voice of the industry. She champions climate action and resilience, and brings expertise in sustainable food systems, circular economy, environmental campaigns, and corporate communications.

Jayne Swanson
Head of Public Affairs
Jayne drives SWA’s public affairs strategy, representing Scotland’s wholesale sector to government, policymakers, and stakeholders. She champions engagement across a wide range of policy areas, including regulation, food and drink, health, environmental matters, and business. With a career in the political sphere since the Scottish Parliament was re-established in 1999, she brings extensive experience in strategy, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.

Lisa Clifford
Member Engagement Officer
Lisa enhances SWA member engagement by seeking to understand the unique nature of each member and deliver member value by highlighting news, initiatives and events most aligned to their priorities. She provides a point of contact for members to get information and resources from subject matter experts with the support of the SWA team. With previous experience in hospitality, drinks brands and wholesale she is inspired by the innovation and energy in the channel to expand her network and knowledge to benefit SWA members.

James Bielby
Council Member
James Bielby is chief executive of Food & Wholesale UK, the trade association which represents wholesaler distributors across the four nations of the UK. FWD works closely with SWA to ensure policy alignment as we lobby on behalf of our joint members, across business regulation, food policy, sustainability and the circular economy.
Jim Cummiskey
Council Member
Jim is CEO and co-founder of Failté Group, which encompasses Failté Foodservice, Failté Produce, and Failté Wholesale. With a strong commitment to Scotland’s food and drink sector, he has dedicated his career to supporting the growth and resilience of the wholesale industry. As a long-serving member of the SWA Council, Jim feels privileged to have witnessed the Association’s development into a vital voice for the industry, representing members’ interests and strengthening engagement with government at all levels.
Julie Dunn
Council Member and Past President
Julie is Managing Director of Dunns Food and Drinks Ltd. She has a strong interest in lifelong learning and community development, and she believes employers play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of people within the communities they serve and operate in. Alongside her leadership at Dunns and her role on the SWA Council, Julie also sits on the boards of Community Links, DYW Lanarkshire and East Dunbartonshire, and The Talbot Association.

Chris Gallacher is Managing Director at United Wholesale (Scotland).
David Howe
Council Member
David Howe is the Regional Operations Manager for Scotland at Bestway. He is a strong advocate for the Scottish market, ensuring that fresh fruit & vegetables and meat in his depots are sourced from local wholesalers. David champions close collaboration with Scottish businesses to make sure they have access to the Scottish lines they need, and he works closely with the SWA on key areas of legislation.
Ruth Sutherland
Council Member
Ruth is Director of Sutherland Brothers Ltd, a long-established wholesale distributor in the North Highlands. She brings valuable industry insight to the Council, championing small regional wholesalers and supporting greater collaboration and innovation across Scotland’s wholesale sector.
Michael McCrosson
Council Member
Michael is Area Manager for Booker Region 1, supporting branches across Scotland and Belfast. With nearly three decades at Booker, he brings extensive operational experience and a strong commitment to people development. Michael advocates for collaboration and continuous improvement across Scotland’s wholesale sector.
