SWA has become a founder member of Circularity Scotland Ltd, the new, not-for-profit company seeking to become the Scheme Administrator of Scotland’s proposed Deposit Return Scheme (DRS).

SWA has linked up with Zero Waste Scotland (ZWS) to promote its redistribution and matchmaking service that will help SWA members redistribute food which would otherwise go to waste. This includes products that are nearing expiry date or excess stockholdings due to stock bought ahead of lockdown/EU Exit.

Scotland’s First Minister has confirmed that work is ongoing with businesses with high Covid-19 transmission risks to introduce routine testing for their workforces. "High risk" sectors include food production and distribution, a welcome development following recent discussions between SWA and the Scottish Government around workplace testing in wholesale.

The Scottish Law Commission (SLC) has written to SWA to confirm that possible reform of the law relating to termination of shop and warehouse leases has been paused.
