SWA chief executive Colin Smith was invited to attend the 13th Business in the Parliament Conference (BIPC) on 7th and 8th November at Holyrood.

SWA members joined chief executive Colin Smith, SWA Council members and SWA’s public affairs colleague Margaret Smith on a specially convened deposit return scheme online conference call on Tuesday, 5th November.

Our thanks go to Bestway/Batleys and Dunns Food and Drinks who, along with other producers/manufacturers, will be assisting Zero Waste Scotland (ZWS) in devising and testing the proposed "producer business forms" that the eventual scheme administrator will use when registering businesses, products and content.

SWA Chief Executive Colin Smith has made a robust presentation to the Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform Committee at Holyrood demanding that the vital role that will be played by the wholesale channel within the proposed Deposit and Return Scheme should be recognised with formal SWA Board membership of the new Scheme Administrator.

The Scottish Wholesale Association (SWA) has expressed concern over the Scottish Government’s draft Deposit and Return Scheme for Scotland Regulations 2020’s lack of recognition of the “substantial additional costs” that its members’ businesses will incur.
